Digital Preservation Policies
InGenio uses the LOCKSS digital preservation system. It offers open-source digital preservation services with the goal of providing and permanently preserving access to the digital content generated through our publication. Additionally, it allows for the secure sharing of digital content among participating libraries.
InGenio’s digital preservation strategy addresses the following aspects:
- Digital resources are stored with the care they deserve.
- References to external documentation are not used in order to preserve the information.
- Efforts are made to minimize dependencies on systems, data, or documentation.
- The information to be preserved is stored along with the corresponding metadata.
- Information is stored in two of the most widely used formats today (PDF and HTML), with a view to increasing the likelihood of successful conversions should they become necessary.
- The journal uses unique and permanent identifiers for its (electronic) publications, facilitating their description and location on the Internet and ensuring that they will always be available.
Author Self-Archiving Policy
Authors of manuscripts published by InGenio Journal may deposit their works in other repositories, such as institutional repositories, personal websites, institutional websites, and others. Authors may self-archive their work immediately after publication. To do so, authors must comply with the content distribution license applied by the journal, namely CC BY-NC-SA (Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike). Additionally, authors must acknowledge InGenio Journal as the source where their work was published, including the appropriate citation. Therefore, authors may share and distribute their articles, but not for commercial purposes.
InGenio Journal recommends that authors not publish the original versions of their papers or the accepted versions. However, the decision rests with the authors, who must explicitly state that the manuscript has been accepted for publication in InGenio Journal. Once the paper has been accepted, authors must make the necessary updates in accordance with the guidelines in the previous paragraph.
Policies on Authorship and Contribution
In accordance with best practices in scientific journal publishing, an author of a publication is defined as a person who has made a significant intellectual contribution to the work. The order of authors should reflect their degree of responsibility and involvement in the research.
Authorship Requirements:
- Corresponding Author: Each article must designate an author responsible for managing communication with the journal during the editorial process, as well as for ensuring that the team has reviewed and approved the final content. The first author does not necessarily have to be the corresponding author. Along with the article, authors must submit the “Transfer of Rights” letter, signed by each author.
- Transparency in Contributions: InGenio promotes ethical, fair, and transparent authorship attribution, in line with editorial quality standards. Therefore, it requires all authors to detail their specific contribution to the work. The journal is not responsible for any disputes regarding the authorship of published works.
CRediT Taxonomy for Specifying Contributions
To standardize each author’s contribution, authors must use the authorship template based on the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) framework, which defines 14 roles in scientific production, as detailed below:
1. Design and Planning
- Conceptualization: Development of ideas; formulation or evolution of general research goals and objectives.
- Methodology: Development or design of the methodology.
- Funding Acquisition: Securing financial support for the project that led to this publication.
2. Execution and Data Collection
3. Management and Technical Support
- Project Administration: Management and coordination of the planning and execution of research activities.
- Supervision: Oversight and management of the planning and execution of research activities, including providing external guidance to the core team.
- Software: Programming, software development; computer program design; implementation of computer code and supporting algorithms; testing of existing code components.
4. Data Processing and Validation
- Formal Analysis: Application of statistical, mathematical, computational, or other formal techniques to analyze or synthesize study data.
- Data curation: Management activities involving annotation (production metadata), data cleaning, and maintenance of research data (including software code, when necessary to interpret the data itself) for initial use and subsequent reuse.
- Validation: Verification —either as part of the activity or separately—of the overall replicability/reproducibility of results/experiments and other research findings.
5. Communication and Dissemination
- Original Draft Writing: Preparation, creation, and/or presentation of the published work, specifically writing the initial draft (including substantive translation).
- Writing – Review and Editing: Preparation, creation, and/or presentation of the published work by members of the original research group, specifically critical review, commentary, or revision.
- Visualization: Preparation, creation, and/or presentation of the published work, specifically data visualization/presentation.
Changes to Authorship
Once the manuscript is received, the list of authors is considered final. No changes (additions, deletions, or changes to the order of authors) will be accepted at any stage of the editorial process following receipt.
Readers’ Rights
Readers have the right to read all articles free of charge immediately upon publication. This journal does not charge any fees for publication or access to its content.
Publication Rights
If the document is accepted for publication, the journal will hold the right of first publication. As stated in the “Letter of Assignment,” the article must not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted for publication in another journal. InGenio Journal reserves the right to distribute the published version online under the terms of a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. In addition, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any copyrighted material and must clearly specify which table, figure, or text will be cited, along with the complete bibliographic reference.

Conflict of Interest Policies
All parties involved in the editorial process (authors, editors, and reviewers) must disclose any conflict of interest—personal, commercial, political, academic, or financial—that could influence the evaluation or publication of a manuscript. Authors must report such conflicts to the editor, while reviewers must recuse themselves from participating if such a conflict exists. The journal InGenio ensures that reviewers are selected based on their expertise in the subject matter and academic objectivity. In the event of disputes or allegations of misconduct, the journal will act in accordance with the guidelines of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), taking measures such as corrections, clarifications, or retractions when appropriate, thereby ensuring the integrity of the editorial process. The editorial team actively promotes transparency and requires the reporting of any anomalies detected during the process. Misconduct will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and the journal is committed to preventing the publication of articles with proven irregularities.
Políticas sobre intercambio y reproducibilidad de datos
InGenio operates under an open-access model to promote the dissemination of knowledge. We encourage authors to share their research data while safeguarding the confidentiality of participants. For third-party data, the conditions of access must be specified. Additionally, the journal promotes the following best practices:
- Authentic data that is relevant to the study and properly cited.
- Bidirectional linking between articles and datasets.
- Full ownership of rights for publication.
The following are considered serious ethical violations:
- Reuse of data without contributing new findings.
- Plagiarism or unauthorized use of materials.
- Manipulation or misrepresentation of information.
In cases of proven misconduct, sanctions may be imposed, including retraction, in accordance with COPE protocols. This policy aims to ensure the transparency, reproducibility, and scientific integrity of publications.
Policies on Ethical Oversight
InGenio is committed to ethical scientific publishing, based on COPE guidelines. The goal is to ensure transparency, originality, and legality in all published works. Practices such as plagiarism, data manipulation or falsification, citation manipulation, copyright infringement, duplicate publication, and any other form of academic misconduct are categorically rejected.
The editorial team ensures confidentiality in the peer-review process, the use of anti-plagiarism tools, and impartiality in the selection of manuscripts. If irregularities are detected, authors will be notified in a timely manner, and appropriate measures will be taken, including the rejection or retraction of the article and, if applicable, notification to the institutions involved.
The journal will maintain a policy of continuous review to ensure that its practices remain aligned with international standards. This commitment includes the constant improvement of editorial processes, training for the editorial team, and the periodic updating of editorial ethics policies.

Policies on Corrections and Retractions
The journal is firmly committed to scientific integrity and editorial transparency. Therefore, it has established this policy for the management of errata, corrections, and retractions, ensuring that published content accurately reflects the results and arguments of the research.
Errata (erratum)
An errata applies only to cases in which the journal has made an error without the author’s knowledge. The author has several opportunities to correct errors, such as the author’s name, keywords, title, and errors in the main text.
The journal submits the final proof of the peer-reviewed, publication-ready article to the corresponding author, allowing one week for review and correction. If the response deadline expires without a reply from the authors, the journal considers the article approved (since the author has not indicated the need for any changes or corrections) and, therefore, ready for publication.
Corrections
When significant errors are detected in a previously published article by the authors, a correction or editorial note will be issued as appropriate if the error affects key data, conclusions, or the scientific rigor of the work. The journal provides a direct link to the original article without removing the initial version, thereby ensuring the traceability of the information.
Retractions
In cases of fabrication, data manipulation, plagiarism, undeclared conflicts of interest, duplicate publication, or other serious breaches of editorial ethics, a retraction will be issued. The retraction will be clearly identified, publicly accessible, and will explain the reasons behind the decision. A retraction does not imply the removal of the article, but rather its permanent designation as invalid or unreliable, in accordance with COPE guidelines.
Policy on the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence
InGenio Journal adheres to COPE’s position on the use of tools such as ChatGPT and other large language models (LLMs). The journal recognizes that these tools may be used as aids during the processes of writing, editing, analysis, and scientific communication, provided that the principles of transparency, ethics, scientific integrity, human responsibility, confidentiality, and academic accuracy are upheld. Full responsibility for published content rests exclusively with the authors.
Use of AI by Authors
Authors may use generative artificial intelligence tools solely as a supplementary aid for tasks such as improving writing, correcting grammar, linguistic translation, preliminary organization of information, or non-interpretive technical assistance. The use of AI to fabricate data, generate nonexistent results, create false references, manipulate scientific images, replace human scientific analysis, draw conclusions without academic validation, or conceal the actual authorship is not permitted.
Mandatory AI Disclosure
Authors must explicitly disclose the tool used, its version, the purpose, and the section of the manuscript in which it was used. This disclosure must be included in the submission letter. In case of doubt, authors may consult the editor.
Human Responsibility
The authors assume full ethical, scientific, and legal responsibility for the accuracy of the content, originality, bibliographic references, interpretation of results, and scientific integrity of the manuscript. The use of AI does not exempt authors from academic or legal responsibilities.
AI as Authorship
Artificial intelligence tools may not be listed as an author, co-author, scientific supervisor, or formal contributor to the manuscript. Authorship is reserved exclusively for human individuals who have made substantial scientific contributions, in accordance with COPE’s authorship criteria.
Editorial Review
InGenio Journal may request additional clarification when it deems it necessary to verify the extent of AI use, the originality of the manuscript, the authenticity of the data, or scientific consistency. The deliberate concealment of significant AI use may be considered an ethical violation.
Use of AI by Reviewers
Reviewers must ensure absolute confidentiality regarding the manuscripts they evaluate. Uploading full or partial manuscripts to public AI platforms, sharing confidential information, or using AI that compromises the authors’ privacy or intellectual property is not permitted. The use of artificial intelligence tools (e.g., ChatGPT or similar systems) to analyze manuscripts or generate review reports is prohibited. Reviewers are solely responsible for the content and opinions expressed in their reports.
Use of AI by the Editorial Team
The editorial team may use AI tools as operational support for preliminary technical review, linguistic verification, editorial organization, and initial detection of inconsistencies. Final editorial decisions will be made exclusively by human editors.
Policy on Post-Publication Discussions
At InGenio Journal, scientific knowledge is strengthened through debate, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas. For this reason, we not only publish rigorous research but also promote spaces for critical discussion where authors, readers, and the academic community can interact—such as social media and other digital academic communities—where articles are shared to generate broader conversations. We invite both authors and readers to join these spaces, promoting the visibility of their ideas and interdisciplinary exchange. Finally, the journal encourages the formation of academic collaborations arising from a shared interest in the topics covered. These may lead to new research projects, co-authorship, presentations, or future publications.
