Abstract

The Galapagos islands, recognized as a biodiversity treasure and a global symbol of conservation, face significant threats primarily due to tourism and fossil fuel-based transportation. The transition to a more sustainable and ecological transportation system becomes essential to preserve this unique ecosystem. This article aims to identify specific niches where initiatives geared towards a new model of efficient and environmentally friendly land and maritime transportation can be effectively implemented. Crucial data for this research were obtained through strategic collaborations with Ecuadorian government entities and on-site information gathering conducted by the research team.  The data presented in this article provide a detailed insight into the conditions and segments of transportation on the islands, and it aspires to be a seedbed of opportunities. The goal is to inspire other researchers and transportation professionals, serving as a source of inspiration and reference for developing and implementing specific initiatives in the field of electromobility.
