Peer review process
PRELIMINARY EVALUATION
The journal does not accept previously published material. The Editorial Board verifies whether the document is original and unpublished using the plagiarism detector (COMPILATIO). Authors are responsible for obtaining the appropriate permissions to partially reproduce the material (text, tables, or figures) from other publications and for correctly citing the source. Authors are also responsible for verifying whether it is relevant to the journal's topic and meets the formal and substantive requirements for a scientific publication (Preliminary Evaluation). Once the article has been analyzed, the author is informed through the OJS platform. If the topic is not relevant, it is rejected or suggested to another journal associated with Ciencia y Tecnología. If the editorial standards are not met, the article is returned to the author for necessary corrections.
The journal reserves the right to print and reproduce all or part of the material, as well as the right to accept or reject the article. It also reserves the right to make any editorial changes it deems appropriate.
PEER REVIEW PROCESS
After the preliminary review, the article will undergo a double-blind peer review by two external academic peers who will issue a review: either the article is accepted without changes, the article is accepted subject to minor changes and does not require re-review, the article is approved subject to major changes and requires re-review, or the article is rejected. If the reviewers' opinions lead to disputes, these disputes will be initially resolved by the journal editor or, if necessary, a second or third academic peer review will be requested.
Anonymity is required for both authors and reviewers during the review process. Likewise, the author of the article will be notified of this review through the scientific article management platform of the journal Ciencia y Tecnología, in order to make any necessary adjustments requested by the reviewers. Upon receiving the article with the corrections made, the journal will verify compliance with the reviewers' suggestions and analyze the justifications for any corrections that have not been taken into account. Once this phase is approved, the article will be sent back to the author, and, if necessary, the author will make any appropriate adjustments. The review and acceptance process for submitted material can take an average of four months, and receipt of the article does not automatically imply its approval and publication.
PUBLISHING PROCESS
The article approved for publication will be subject to technical review standards: writing, style, and grammar; translation from English; keywords; date of receipt and acceptance of the article; DOI; ORCID code; Creative Commons.
Once the aforementioned process is completed, the article is formatted and then published on the Science and Technology journal of the Quevedo State Technical University.
Anti-Plagiarism
Articles submitted by authors to the journal will be submitted for initial review using the anti-plagiarism software COMPILATIO. The corresponding authors will be informed of the opinion in cases where the overlap exceeds 10%. Papers with a percentage below 10% will undergo blind peer review.
Article Processing Charge (APC)
The open access publishing model of the journal Ciencia y Tecnología of the Quevedo State Technical University does not require authors to pay any financial charges for the processing of their articles. All costs of the editorial process—reviewing, typesetting, editing, web publishing, and long-term archiving—are covered by the Research Department of the Quevedo State Technical University.
The journal Ciencia y Tecnología offers this free publication system because our main objective is to promote the dissemination of knowledge through the publication of high-quality research articles. We continually pursue these goals without imposing a financial burden on researchers or their institutions.
The blind peer reviewers, who collaborate with us as article reviewers, perform this activity on an honorary basis and do not receive any financial compensation for their valuable contribution.
