  1. Register on the journal's website (Register new user).
  2. Submit the manuscript according to the article structure (download MS Word template). Remember that the work must not be published or under review by another journal, and the copyright transfer letter must be signed by all authors (download MS Word template).
  3. Upload the work to the journal through the OJS platform's Web Portal (upload manuscript).

Article Structure

Original article: This must be an unpublished work consistent with the journal's thematic focus. Each author must provide an (institutional) email address, affiliation, and an ORCID identifier (http://orcid.org/). It is essential to indicate who the corresponding author will be; otherwise, the first author will be assumed to be the corresponding author. The text must be in Times New Roman font, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing, and with lines numbered in the left margin. Manuscripts are expected to be at least 12 pages long and have at least 15 references. The following is a general outline, which may vary depending on the topic/area of research:

  • Title: This should be brief, concise, and descriptive. It should not contain bibliographic references, typed numbers, or non-standard abbreviations. Spanish and English.
  • Abstract: A summary of the work, a maximum of 250 words. Include the most relevant aspects such as: Why was this work done? How was it done? What was obtained/found? What is the innovation/contribution? Avoid references and abbreviations. Spanish or Portuguese and English.
  • Keywords: Provide a maximum of 6 keywords, separated by commas, to identify the main issues addressed. These keywords are used for indexing purposes, and the UNESCO Thesaurus is strongly recommended. Spanish and English.
  • Introduction: Provides the necessary context, adequately describing the problem and justifying the need for the study. It is desirable to include citations that reinforce the authors' arguments. It is often useful to clarify the objective and contribution of the work conducted in this section. Optionally, the organization of the article may be mentioned.
  • Materials and Methods: Describe the methodology, materials, and methods used in the study. Please note that this section does not expect general explanations or definitions of the types of methods and/or research. It is extremely important to describe this section in a way that allows for replication of the study. The diets, animals (breed, sex, age, weight), weighing conditions (with or without food and/or water restrictions), surgical interventions, measurements taken, and the experimental design should also be detailed.
  • Results: May be combined with the discussion. The results of the study should be presented. Use elements such as tables, images, statistical graphs, etc. as necessary. Any element other than a table should be presented as a "figure."
  • Discussion: Analyze/interpret the results. You could also compare them with similar articles/work and mention some limitations of the study.
  • Conclusions: Present the conclusions of the work. Some authors typically begin with a (brief) recap of the work before summarizing their findings. Finally, you may consider mentioning future work or continuations of the work currently being presented.
  • Acknowledgments: This section is optional. It may be used to refer to projects for which you have received funding, to the contributions of other people, among other things.
  • References: References must be presented according to APA Seventh Edition standards, with the same text/source format as the normal text of the document. There must be a direct relationship between the citations in the text and the reference list presented at the end of the article; That is, it cannot include references that have not been cited in the text, nor can it have a citation in the text without including the reference in the respective list. It must include current references, preferring those from indexed scientific journals and international conferences. Several examples are shown below.

Systematic Review Article: Articles of this type can adopt the same structure used for original articles (download MS Word template), with a length of 30 pages.

Literature Review Article: The recommended structure for literature review articles includes: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and References.

Although the "Development" section does not always appear explicitly by that name, its content can be organized into specific sections according to the topic addressed. The author has the flexibility to divide this section into as many as necessary, as long as the coherence and depth of the analysis are maintained. As a minimum requirement, it is recommended to include at least 25 updated bibliographic references.

It should be noted that the defined structures are flexible guidelines subject to modification depending on the topic the authors are addressing. Therefore, the authors are responsible for making the decisions they consider most appropriate for the presentation of their manuscript.
