Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the dissemination and promotion of sport through the media, taking the Manta canton as a case study. Therefore, the main objective is to determine how sports journalists influence the taste towards sport in the inhabitants of the city of Manta. In addition to identifying what are the means that most promote the sport, and what communication strategies are being used to encourage people to practice unconventional sports. The methodology that was carried out was quantitative-qualitative, in which techniques such as: the survey and interviews with experts were applied. Whose results obtained determined that sports journalism positively influences the population of Manta, but there is little coverage by local media towards unconventional sports.
