Abstract

There is little research on the Ecuadorian public administration on the subject related to leadership styles. It is appreciated that the boss-employee relationship presents an influence of cultural, social, political factors, among others. There are administrative tendencies influenced by the power / authority to exercise leadership. The objective of the research was to evaluate the criteria related to leadership styles vs. collaborators in public institutions in the province of Cotopaxi-Ecuador. For this, surveys were applied to heads and subordinates in public institutions. The results showed that autocratic and situational leaders predominate, as well as, 75% of the respondents thought that the leader is a role model. The above points out the need to continue improving the commitments between heads and collaborators in order to achieve the institutional goals with a correct organizational culture.
